Associate professor Shiju N. Raveendran of the Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences has received a Prof. J.N. Mukherjee Memorial Award from the Indian Chemical Society, honouring his societally relevant research in Chemical Engineering and Green Chemistry.

Shiju Raveendran is Associate Professor of Catalysis Engineering at the UvA’s Research Priority Area Sustainable Chemistry. He received the award at the annual meeting of the Indian Chemical Society (ACC 2023) where he also gave an award lecture. The meeting was held at the end of 2023 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.

The Prof. J. N. Mukherjee Memorial Award was named after the founder of the ICS (in 1924). The annual award in his name is presented to scientists of Indian origin who perform original research of high quality in their respective field of specialization. Raveendran, who works in applied research, was also honoured for the relevance of his work for society.
